The police have busted a flesh trade racket being run in the vicinity of a private university.

Kapurthala SSP Vatsalya Gupta said 13 boys and 13 girls, including nine foreign nationals, were arrested under Sections 3, 4, 5, 7 and 8 of the Immoral Traffic Act. Cops seized nine passports, 29 cellphones and Rs 45,000 from the accused.

The SSP said they observed that several foreign nationals visiting the area indulged in immoral trafficking.

SP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti said Mission and Spa Centre was operated by Deepak Behal, alias Ashish, a resident of Bhawani Nagar, Amritsar, and a paying guest accommodation was run by Lavit Kumar.

The police officials said none of those arrested were the students.
