Donation to CM's Relief Fund
Nayan Chhabra, Doaba zone coordinator of the War Against Drugs campaign and chairman of the Youth Development Board, contributed ₹50,000 to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. The cheque was handed over to DC Amit Kumar Panchal in the presence of Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian and other dignitaries. Chhabra assured full support to flood-hit families.
AAP leaders visit villages
AAP Phagwara Assembly constituency in-charge Harnoor Singh (Harji) Mann visited rain-affected villages of Bohani, Ranipur, Duggan, Jagpalpur, and Madhopur, where he inspected damaged houses and expressed solidarity with victims. Mann said the government was committed to providing compensation for damage to houses, crops, and livestock.
The leaders arranged a fodder trolley from Madhopur to assist cattle stranded in flood-hit areas of Bholath. Several sarpanches and youth leaders accompanied the visit.
Medical relief in Kapurthala
Amid concerns of disease outbreak, the Health Department has intensified medical services in the flood-hit Kapurthala. Acting under the directions of Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh and supervision of DC Panchal, four Rapid Response Teams and 12 medical teams have been deployed on the ground.
Civil Surgeon Dr Rajiv Parashar said special medical wards with 24 beds have been set up across Kapurthala, Sultanpur Lodhi, and Bholath. The department, in coordination with NGOs and the IMA, has distributed 200 mosquito nets, ensured stock of essential medicines, including anti-rabies and anti-snake vaccines, and deployed ambulances for emergency care.
Relief supplies in Sultanpur Lodhi
In Sultanpur Lodhi, the administration has focused on door-to-door relief through SDRF boats. Under the supervision of SDM Alka Kalia, four teams delivered around 250 ration kits, alongside sanitary pads, mosquito nets, and tarpaulins.
DC Panchal said the administration was reaching even those reluctant to leave low-lying houses, urging them to shift to safer relief camps. Dedicated control rooms have been activated for emergency response, with helpline numbers: 62800-49331, 01822-231990, 01828-222169.
