The Daily Morning Football Club, Nawanshahr, organised a football match at the RK Aryan College ground on Basant Panchami to celebrate the club’s newly allocated football field. This ground, now under the club’s ownership after registration with the Youth Services Department, had previously been shared with cricket teams, forcing the football players to give up their practice whenever a cricket match was scheduled.

The match, played between Avtar Singh XI and Mukhtiar Rai XI, was led by the club’s star player, Sukhwinder Singh Sukha. Mukhtiar Rai XI triumphed with a 2-0 victory.

Tarsem Lal, chairman of the club and deputy group education and information officer, said the Daily Morning Football Club often holds matches on special occasions such as birthdays, achievements and weddings, in an effort to keep the youth away from drugs and encourage them to engage in sports. He also expressed his gratitude towards RK Aryan College principal Puneet Aneja, the management committee and the Nawanshahr Cricket Association for their support in providing the club with a dedicated football ground.

Tarsem Lal added the club hopes to establish a football academy in Nawanshahr in the future, with continued support from college management, NRIs and donors.

The players celebrated Basant Panchami by congratulating one another and sharing refreshments, provided by the club president, Ajay Mehra. In keeping with the spirit of the event, the club also encouraged planting saplings to mark the occasion. The event received full cooperation from Cricket Coach Inderpal, the Tour Committee Nawanshahr and both new and veteran players of the club.
