Fortis takes over Shrimann hospital for Rs 462 cr

This will be the fifth hospital of Fortis in Punjab, including two in Ludhiana and one each in Mohali and Amritsar. Built in 3 acres, the hospital is located on the Pathankot road. Fortis intends to add in 225 beds by expanding the existing building and utilising an already available 2.4-acre adjacent land chunk, taking the hospital’s total capacity to more than 450 beds.
Ashish Bhatia, executive vice-president, Fortis Healthcare, said the process of complete takeover will last another two months. "The hospital has a staff of 65 doctors and 1,000 support staff. We shall try to retain all of them while adding in more specialists to the existing strength", he said, adding that the medical charges levied for treatment from the patients shall remain the same.
Bhatia said there already were 25 specialty departments in the hospital, including those in cardiac sciences, renal sciences, general and laparoscopic surgery, oncology, orthopaedics, neurosciences and gastroenterology.
"The hospital has four advanced Operation Theatres, a Cath Lab, 84 critical care beds and is equipped with technologies such as PET Scan and fibroscan along with 28 dialysis beds. We shall only add in more advanced technologies", he said.
He said the hospital is already empaneled with the ECHS , CGHS, Northern Railways, and the Central Armed Police Forces. The four promotors of Shrimann Hospital Dr V P Sharma, Dr. Harmeet Paul Singh, Dr Rajeev Bhatia and Dr Ajay Marwaha welcomed the Fortis team, adding that the corporate environment would boost patient-centric care and infrastructural needs.
