The Bilga police have arrested four miscreants and booked six others on the charges of attempt to murder and firing.

Ghuman SHO said the accused has been identified as Baljit Singh, alias Doctor, a resident of Chhokaran village in Phillaur, Baljit Ram, a resident of Chak Sahibu in Phillaur, Daljit Singh, alias Deepu, a resident of Palno in Phillaur, and Ram Aasraa, a native of Bihar, living at Mowai village.

Baljit Kaur Sarpanch of Mowai village complained to the police that the accused and their accomplices were ploughing her wheat crop fields on November 19 and when she went there to stop, the accused fired at her, intending to kill her but gunshots missed target.

They outraged her modesty and assaulted her and attacked police party which reached on the spot to help her.

The SHO said a case under sections 109 (attempt to murder) 74 (criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) 132, 221(obstructing public servants from performing their duties) 309(4)(robbery) 329(4) (house tresspass) 351(2)(criminal intimidation) 191(3),190 (rioting and unlaw full assembly) of the BNS and Sections 25/27/54/59 of the Arms Act has been registered against the accused and their six accomplices, who manged to flee from the spot and recovered two cartridges of .32 bore rifle.
