A labourer was reportedly murdered by his own friend at Majra-Jattan village near Balachaur last night.

The deceased has been identified as Mukesh, a resident of Nanowal village near Balachaur, while the suspect has been identified as Raju Gurum, a resident of Siliguri in West Bengal. The duo was working in the fields of Rulda Singh.

The police said they consumed liquor after dinner and indulged in a scuffle. Following this, Raju killed Mukesh with sharp weapons.

The police have registered a case against the suspect and recovered a knife from the crime spot.

The police arrested the suspect and sent the body to the Civil Hospital, Balachaur, for post-mortem examination.
