The general observer appointed by the State Election Commission for the panchayat elections, Sanyam Aggarwal, along with Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Komal Mittal, today reviewed the scrutiny of nomination papers at five villages in Hoshiarpur 1 and 2 blocks.

While scrutinising nomination papers, Aggarwal expressed satisfaction and said the scrutiny work would be completed within stipulated time and as per the guidelines. He suggested officials to expedite the process so that elections could be conducted smoothly. He said there should be no error in scrutiny of nomination papers and the work should be completed with complete transparency and fairness. Aggarwal emphasised that nomination of each candidate should be closely scrutinised so that no controversial situation arose in the future.

Aggarwal and Mittal visited Adamwal and Ajjowal villages in Hoshiarpur-1 block and Shergarh, Basi Kalan and Chauhal villages in Hoshiarpur-2 block.

Mittal also apprised the general observer about arrangements made by the district administration for conducting elections.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development)-cum-Additional District Election Officer Nikas Kumar and Hoshiarpur SDM Sanjeev Sharma accompanied Aggarwal and Mittal.
