Dr Dharampal Sahil, a well-known writer from Hoshiarpur and retired principal, has been selected as a subject expert by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. He will be part of a team preparing the Hindi-Punjabi Idioms Dictionary.

This important work is being carried out under the Central Hindi Institute, Agra. According to an official letter, the project is being led by Padma Shri Dr Harmohinder Singh Bedi, Vice-Chancellor of the Central University, Dharamshala (Himachal Pradesh).

Dr Sahil will be working with other subject experts, including Dr Sukhdev Singh Minhas (Chandigarh), Dr Rajni (Patiala), Dr Naresh Kumar (Dharamshala) and Dr Malkiat Singh (Dharamshala). The team will hold six five-day workshops to create the dictionary.

This is not the first time Dr Sahil is contributing to such a project. Earlier, he also played an important role in the making of the Hindi-Punjabi Learners’ Dictionary, also by the Ministry of Education. He is currently a member of the Hindi Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India.

Dr Sahil is a respected figure in the field of Hindi and Punjabi literature. With decades of teaching experience, he has written several books and research papers. He is known for promoting linguistic harmony and has been active in many government language projects.
