Govt school teacher pens NCERT maths book for Class VI students

Focusing on the theme of ‘Rashtra Gaurav’ of the National Council of Educational Research and Training’s (NCERT), mathematics teacher from Government Model Co-Education Senior Secondary Smart School, Ladowali Road, has released a book, ‘Ganit Prakash’, for students of Class VI.

Sharing details, teacher Jyoti Jaitley said that the students would experience nationalistic pride from this much-awaited NCERT book of mathematics for Class VI. Jyoti Jaitley said that students would read the contribution of Indian mathematicians in the book. She said that the works of all Indian mathematicians in developing fractions, zero, positive negative numbers and debit/credit accounting system were mentioned in the book.

She said that the book would show a marked level of Indianisation. “The international system of number determination has been removed. The students will learn to write numbers in lakhs and crores instead of millions and billions. The last book of mathematics of NCERT had got released in 2006.”

She said the first chapter ‘Patterns in Mathematics’ is on the work of famed mathematician Prof Manjul Bhargava which she describes as creative art.
