According to information, Noor Jahan, a resident of local Mohalla Bhavani Nagar, told the city police that her daughter Raveena had married Abhishek, a resident of Dev Nagar, about three years ago. Her daughter had told her that her husband harassed her for dowry. She alleged that her daughter had expressed the fear of being murdered.

She said her daughter’s husband informed her that Raveena had hanged herself and been admitted to the hospital. When she reached the hospital, the doctors had declared her daughter dead.

In another case, Jaspal, a resident of village Padddi Mattawali of district Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, told the police that he had married his daughter Kirna to Harjinderpal, a resident of village Binjhon. He alleged that after marriage, his son-in-law used to harass her and she had complained to the police several times.
