The prestigious tournament was organised by the Jalandhar Badminton Association.A total of 250 players from 23 districts of Punjab participated in the under-11 and under-13 age groups, with 304 matches played across eight events.
In the boys’ under-13 singles final, Ludhiana’s Harshbir Singh Dhillon outclassed Rabbiguel Anji in straight sets, winning 21-12, 21-7. In the girls’ under-11 category, Aanya Tiwari showcased excellent form to defeat Blessy of Bathinda 21-13, 21-14.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Sandeep Rishi (IAS), Commissioner, MC Jalandhar, who lauded the participants and highlighted the importance of sports in a child’s holistic development. “Sports are essential not only for physical fitness but also for mental growth. They help children stay away from excessive screen time and build discipline,” he remarked. He also commended the Jalandhar Badminton Association for organising the tournament in an exemplary manner. The winners were felicitated with cash prizes and attractive gifts by the chief guest. Prominent office-bearers of the Punjab Badminton Association including Kavi Raj Dogra (Vice President), Ritin Khanna (Hony. Secretary), Jaswant Singh, Dhiraj Sharma (Joint Secretary), Kusum Kaypee and Palwinder Juneja were also present on the occasion.
