MLA and the All India Congress Committee secretary Pargat Singh today participated in the Teej festival celebrations at Ram Ki Patti village in Jandiala under the Jalandhar Cantt Assembly constituency as the chief guest. The event was hosted by village sarpanch Kamaljeet Singh and his team, who extended a warm welcome to the MLA.

In his address, Pargat Singh highlighted that Teej was a festival dedicated, especially to women and was an important expression of Punjab’s cultural identity. He said it was heartening to see that rural communities still celebrated Teej with enthusiasm and spirit, thereby keeping alive the state’s rich traditions and heritage.

“It is vital to promote such festivals so that our future generations remain connected to our culture and values,” he said, extending his best wishes to all women and young girls for a happy and prosperous life on the auspicious occasion of Teej.

The celebrations featured vibrant cultural performances by local women and girls, including presentation of traditional Teej songs and spirited Giddha performances. Women also enjoyed traditional swings as part of the festivities. At the conclusion of the programme, the village panchayat and women’s groups honoured Pargat Singh with a ceremonial shawl and a memento.

The event was attended by block president Jagtar Singh, Jandiala president Gurpreet Singh Gopi, panch Makkhan Singh and other prominent local figures.
