Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Aggarwal reviewed the preparations for the 41st Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament, scheduled to be held from October 19, here at the local Surjit Hockey Stadium. The tournament will conclude on October 26.

The DC, who is also the president of the Surjit Hockey Society, held a meeting with the office-bearers of Surjit Hockey Society today at the local Surjit Hockey Stadium and issued necessary guidelines.

He further said all arrangements for accommodation, transport and medical facilities for the teams and officials have been completed. The tournament is organized every year to keep alive the name of former Indian hockey team captain and Olympian Sardar Surjit Singh Randhawa.

He said on the final day of the tournament, the players who were part of the Indian hockey team that won the World Cup in 1975 will be honoured.
