Phagwara: Hope rekindled for JCT Mill workers as IP distributes D-forms

In a significant development under the ongoing corporate insolvency resolution process (CIRP) of JCT Mill Phagwara, workers and employees saw a glimmer of hope on Friday as the Insolvency Professional (IP) appointed by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), Hasti Mal Kachhara, visited the mill premises and formally initiated the dues settlement process.

During his visit, Kachhara handed over D-forms to representatives of the workers’ unions, including INTUC President Dharmendra and labour leader Mahatam Tiwari. These forms are meant to record the full and final claims of employees, including pending wages, allowances, bonuses, ex-gratia and other dues up to October 24, 2024. The aim is to expedite the resolution and payment process transparently.

Dharmendra, speaking on behalf of the JCT INTUC Union, stated, “Workers who have been waiting for justice and their hard-earned dues for years now have new hope. We have been entrusted with the responsibility of assisting in filling out the D-forms promptly and we will ensure the process is completed efficiently.”

He expressed confidence that the dues will be cleared in a timely and transparent manner under the supervision of the court-appointed Insolvency Professional.

Several other worker representatives, including Shamsher Bharti, Mohit Sharma, Rajeev Chaubey, Sunil Kumar and Dilip Kumar, were present during the visit. The move has injected fresh optimism among hundreds of former employees who have been struggling to recover their pending payments since the financial downfall of the mill.

The JCT Mill case is currently being handled under the NCLT’s insolvency framework, aimed at providing resolution and recovery for stakeholders impacted by the company’s financial crisis.
