A total of 25,000 kits have been prepared by the department. One can buy the kits from the office of the Department of Horticulture, Punjab. The kits have also been provided by the department to encourage kitchen gardening.

The kits read, ‘gharelu bagichi lagao, paushtik khurak paao, kharche bachao’. The officials said, “These vegetables are rich in nutrition but because of adulteration, one cannot consume proper nutrition, but this problem can get solved if one adopts kitchen gardening”.

The Horticulture Department has also developed seed kits which contain seeds of 10 varieties of vegetables for the winter season.

Two years ago, the department had come up with an informative pamphlet/handbook, ‘Vegetable Nutrition and Herbal Garden,’ which is written by Dr Sukhdip Singh Hundal, Assistant Director Horticulture-cum-state nodal officer of kitchen gardening, Punjab. The pamphlet has been widely appreciated by people. — TNS
