Hoshiarpur defeats Kapurthala by 4 runs in U-15 women’s cricket

In the ongoing Inter-District Women’s Under-15 cricket tournament organised by the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA), Hoshiarpur defeated Kapurthala by 4 runs.

Providing details, Hoshiarpur District Cricket Association (HDCA) secretary Dr Raman Ghai said the 35-over match was played in Hoshiarpur, where Kapurthala won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Batting first, Hoshiarpur scored 111 runs for 9 wickets in 35 overs. Vice-captain Ananya Thakur anchored the innings with a superb unbeaten 50. Supporting contributions came from Mahika Thakur (17), Dhruvika Seth (14) and Pratika (12). On the bowling side, Pawan starred for Kapurthala, taking 4 wickets.

Chasing a target of 112 runs, Kapurthala was bowled out for 107 in 32.1 overs. Despite a valiant 64-run knock by Sukhmanleen Kaur, the team fell short by just four runs. Hoshiarpur bowlers—Kashvi Rana, captain Dhruvika Seth, Ananya Thakur, Soni Kumari, Anshika, and Bhumika Sharma—each took a wicket to seal the win.

PCA women’s selector Gurdeep Minhas was present at the ground to observe the players’ performances. HDCA President Dr Daljit Khela congratulated the team on behalf of all association members and extended best wishes for their upcoming matches.

Team coach Davinder Kalyan, district coach Daljit Singh, district trainer Kuldeep Dhami, junior coach Daljit Dhiman, Pankaj Pinka, and Dinesh Sharma also congratulated the team on their victory. HDCA selector Naresh Kalu and groundsman Sodhi Ram expressed their appreciation as well. Dr Ghai informed that Hoshiarpur’s next match will be played against Ropar on October 6.
