Hoshiarpur: The police have arrested five persons from different places and recovered drugs from them. According to information, the police arrested three accused and recovered 120 gram of narcotic powder from them. The accused have been identified as Gurminder Singh of Kunta, Boota Singh of Sandharan Sodhian and Ajay Kumar of Kattowal. While the police of Garhshankar arrested an accused during a raid in the area and recovered 100 gram of heroin from him. The accused has been identified as Harpreet Ram of Panam. The Mukerian police arrested Kulveer Singhof Lambi Gali and recovered 7 gram heroin from him.

Truck with stolen tree logs seized

Talwara: The police have registered a case against a person of Sukhchainpur village for stealing khair trees from a forest and recovered the wooden logs loaded in a four-wheeler on Sunday. The police had received a secret information that Deepak Kumar of Sukhchainpur, along with some of his associates, had stolen khair trees from a forest and was loading these in a pickup. Based on the information, ASI Naresh Kumar, along with his team, raided the forest and the vehicle was seized along with the logs of the stolen trees.

Villager held for road obstruction

Phagwara: The Shahkot police have arrested a villager on the charges of obstructing a link road. Investigating officer (IO) Jagdev Singh said the accused had been identified as Manwindar alias Manga, a resident of Kassu Pur village. Baljit Kaur, wife of Sarabjit Singh and a resident of the same village, had complained to the police that the suspect had spread trash on the road, causing her husband's motorcycle to slip and fall on the ground, causing serious injuries. The IO said a case was registered against the suspect.

Third arrest in illegal rehab case

Phagwara: The Shahkot police have arrested the third person for his involvement in running an illegal de-addiction centre at Koharr Kalan village of the Shahkot subdivision. Shahkot Station House Officer (SHO) Aman Saini said the accused had been identified as Sarabjit Singh, alias Nikka, a resident of Billi Chao who was presently living at Koharr Kalan village. The SHO said a case under Sections 318(4) (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 127(4) (wrongful confinement for ten or more days), and 223 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the BNS was registered against the suspects.

Man held under NDPS Act

Phagwara: The police have arrested a youth and seized 155 intoxicated tablets from his possession on Sunday night. The accused identified as Jatinder, resident of Chhag Colony, Phagwara, was nabbed at a check point near Urban Estate, Phagwara. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused.
