Hoshiarpur team advance to quarterfinals with 3-wicket win over Fatehgarh Sahib

In a thrilling encounter at the Punjab Cricket Association’s Inter-District Women’s Under-15 Cricket Tournament, Hoshiarpur emerged victorious over Fatehgarh Sahib by 3 wickets, securing first place in Pool A with 12 points.

The match, played in the 35-over format, saw Hoshiarpur winning the toss and opting to field first. Fatehgarh Sahib posted 126 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 35 overs, with Bableen Kaur top-scoring with 43 runs and Dhanvi Sood contributing 33 runs.

Hoshiarpur’s bowlers were in fine form, with Anshika claiming 3 wickets, Annaya Thakur taking 2, and Dhruvika Seth adding 1 wicket to her tally. Chasing a target of 127, Hoshiarpur managed to reach 127 for 6 in 32.1 overs. Vice-captain Ananya Thakur anchored the chase with an unbeaten 47, while captain Dhruvika Seth supported her with a crucial knock of 29 runs.

This win not only secured Hoshiarpur a top spot in Pool A but also set them up for a quarterfinal clash against Jalandhar on October 15th. HDCA Secretary Dr Raman Ghai congratulated the team, while HDCA President Dr. Daljit Khela extended best wishes for their upcoming quarterfinal. The coaching staff, including team coach Davinder Kaur, district coach Daljit Singh, and assistant coaches Nikita Kumari, Daljit Dhiman, Pankaj Pinka, Dinesh Sharma, along with district trainer and former national player Kuldeep Dhami, also commended the players’ performance.
