Hoshiarpur, July 20

In the Under-19 one-day inter-district cricket tournament organised by Punjab Cricket Association, Hoshiarpur defeated Nawanshahr by nine wickets and earned four points. Nawanshahr won the toss and elected to bat first but could only score 67 runs.

The aggressive spin bowling by Hoshiarpur’s Harshit Nanda and Aryan Arora made the Nawanshahr team look weak before the bowling attack. Harshit Nanda bowled brilliantly for Hoshiarpur, taking five wickets, Aryan Arora took four wickets and Hairal Vashisht took one wicket. The Hoshiarpur team achieved a brilliant victory by scoring 69 runs in just 17.5 overs while chasing the small target. Harmandeep played a brilliant innings of 53 runs. Ashveer Singh remained unbeaten on nine runs.

Hoshiarpur District Cricket Association (HDCA) president Dr Daljit Khela, Vivek Sahni, Dr Pankaj Shiv and others congratulated the winning team on its victory. District coach Daljit Singh, district trainer and former cricketer Kuldeep Dhami, Daljit Dhiman, Ashok Sharma, women’s coach Davinder Kalyan, Sodhi Ram congratulated the team. HDCA secretary Dr Raman Ghai said that Hoshiarpur will play their next match with Gurdaspur on July 22. The match will be played in Hoshiarpur.
