Punjab Police, featuring a line-up of Olympian players, suffered a narrow 2-3 defeat at the hands of the Indian Air Force in the 42nd Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament. On the third day of the tournament being held at the Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium, Jalandhar, CRPF Delhi and Indian Railways Delhi were tied at 1-1 in the second match of the league round.

The first match was played between Indian Air Force and Punjab Police, equipped with 10 Olympian players, Jalandhar in Pool B. The first goal for Punjab Police was scored by Prabhdeep Singh in the 7th minute of the game to make the score 1-0. While in the 9th minute, Sumit of Indian Air Force scored a goal to make the score 1-1. In the 35th minute of the game, Punjab Police Olympian Dilpreet Singh scored a goal on a pass from former Indian team captain Manpreet Singh to make the score 2-1. In the 39th minute of the game, Air Force's M Kriappa scored a goal through a penalty corner to make the score 2-2. In the 41st minute of the game, Air Force's Sagar Singde scored a goal to make the score 3-2. During the match, Punjab Police got 13 penalty corners, but Air Force goalkeeper Punanna Palangde saved all the penalty corners taken by Indian team captain Olympian Harmanpreet Singh and Olympian Rupinderpal Singh. Punjab Police has three points from two league matches. Punjab Police defeated Punjab & Sindh Bank Delhi in the first match.

The second match was played between CRPF Delhi and Indian Railways Delhi in Pool A. Both the teams were tied at 0-0 till half time. In the 57th minute of the game, Shriyas Bhavikdas Dubey of Indian Railways scored a field goal to make the score 1-0. In the 59th minute, Shamsher of CRPF scored a goal through a penalty stroke to make the score 1-1. As the match remained tied, both the teams got one point each.

The chief guests of today's matches were Olympian Gurmail Singh, Arjun Awardee Rajbir Kaur, Mayor Municipal Corporation Jalandhar Vaneet Dhir and NRI Ranjit Singh Tut. On this occasion, Olympian Rajinder Singh, Olympian Mukhbain Singh, Mukhwinder Singh and others were specially present.

Matches scheduled for October 26 include Bharat Petroleum versus BSF Jalandhar at 4.30 pm and Indian Oil Mumbai against Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala at 5.45 pm.
