Phagwara: The Mehatpur police have arrested two persons, including a migrant, on charges of brewing and selling illicit liquor. Forty bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from the possession of the accused, identified as Karanjit Singh, a resident of Mohalla Kasba Mehatpur, and Parmod Mandal, a native of Bihar and presently living at Sidham Stationwale village under Nakodar Sadar police station.A case under Sections 61/1.14 of the Punjab Excise Act has been registered against the accused.
Man held for raping woman
Phagwara: The Shahkot police have arrested a villager on the charge of raping a married woman. Investigating officer (IO) Inspector Seema said the accused has been identified as Paramjit Singh Chandi, a resident of Parjiankhurd village under Shahkot police station. The victim complained to the police that the accused raped her and threatened to kill her. A case had been registered against the accused.
