Phagwara: A seminar aimed at raising awareness against stubble burning was organised at the Government Rest House in Phagwara under the chairmanship of Sub-Divisional Magistrate Jashanjeet Singh. The event brought together farmers, village representatives, and officials to deliberate on the harmful effects of stubble burning and to encourage the adoption of eco-friendly alternatives.
Emphasising strict enforcement, the SDM cautioned that farmers violating the norms would face penalties ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 30,000 besides legal action. Meanwhile, the district administration of Kapurthala has intensified rehabilitation efforts in the flood-hit areas.
Prof Jain wins twin accolades
Phagwara: Dr Rajnish Jain, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Commerce and Management, Guru Nanak Bhai Lalo Ramgarhia College for Women, Phagwara, has been conferred with the Best Teacher’s Award and the Best Author’s Award by Informatics Books and Journals, CSA Publishers and Distributors, New Delhi.

Renowned for his pedagogical brilliance, erudite scholarship, and exemplary literary pursuits, Dr Jain has consistently improved on the highest standards of teaching and research, a college official said. The college’s managing committee conveyed their felicitations to Dr Jain.
Sukhvinder named dist prez of aided schools’ union
Hoshiarpur: The district unit of the Punjab State Government Aided School Teachers and Other Employees Union had a meeting at KRK DAV Senior Secondary School, Gardhiwala. During the session, the district body elected its new office-bearers. In the newly formed executive, Sukhvinder Singh of Khalsa Co-Education School, Baddon, was elected the president, while Sanjiv Kumar of DAV Senior Secondary School, Hoshiarpur was named the vice-president. Neeraj Ghai of AS Senior Secondary School, Mukerian, was chosen as the secretary, and Priya Saini of PD Arya Mahila Senior Secondary School, Hoshiarpur, was appointed co-secretary.
