Indian Navy Mumbai made a winning start in the 42nd Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament by defeating Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala 3-2 in a closely contested match. The second day of the tournament at the Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium, Jalandhar, saw two league round matches.

In the first match of Pool A, Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala took an early lead in the 10th minute when Jogimber Rawat scored. Indian Navy quickly responded in the 15th minute through Nitish, levelling the score. Charanjit Singh put Kapurthala ahead again, making it 2-1, before Sushil Dhanwar equalised for the Navy in the 34th minute. Sundara Padha scored the decisive goal in the 41st minute, sealing a 3-2 victory for Indian Navy.

The second match of Pool C between CAG Delhi and BSF Jalandhar ended in a 2-2 draw. Kamaljit Singh opened the scoring for CAG Delhi in the third minute, followed by Hatinder Singh's goal in the 36th minute, giving CAG a 2-0 lead. BSF staged a late comeback with goals from Manjit in the 58th minute and Roshan Kumar in the 60th minute, earning both teams one point each. Matches scheduled for October 25 include Indian Air Force versus Punjab Police at 4.30 pm and Indian Railways against CRPF at 5.45 pm.
