Assistant Superintendent of Kapurthala Modern Jail Baldev Singh led a routine inspection of the prison barracks during which contraband items and a mobile phone were recovered from inmate Sajan Singh. Following the discovery, a group of inmates reportedly confronted and attacked the wardens in an attempt to recover the seized mobile phone.

During the altercation, Wardens Angrej Singh and Baljit Singh were assaulted. Angrej’s uniform was allegedly torn during the scuffle, signalling the aggressive nature of the confrontation. The incident was reported to the police station by the jail authorities.
