GRD Co-Education College, Phagwara, organised inter-school talent development competitions on Thursday under the guidance of Director of Education, Dr Neelam Sethi. Students from several schools in the region participated enthusiastically in events including folk singing, fancy dress and fruit-and-vegetable carving.

NRI dignitaries Haripal Randhawa (UK), Tek Chand (UK) and Hira Lal (UK) attended the programme as chief guests. In the fancy dress competition, judged by Romy Devgan of Dumeli College and Neeru Grover, Simran from SD Kanya Mahavidyalaya secured first place, Gurkamal of GDR Convent School was second and Ishmeet Singh of the same school finished third.

The folk-song contest, judged by Harjinder from Kamla Nehru College saw Ramanpreet Kaur of Shri Mahavir Jain Model Senior Secondary School take first place, followed by Gursimran Kaur (same school) and Chetna Arora of Guru Ram Rai Public School.

In the fruit-and-vegetable carving event, judged by Vaishali from Kamla Nehru College and Manisha Rani from Dumeli College, first prize went to Jasbir Kaur and Daljeet Singh of GDR Convent School, second to Chris and Muneesh of Saint Soldier Divine Public School and third to Sonia from SD Kanya Mahavidyalaya.
