Young IPS officer Ankur Gupta has been picked to lead the Republic Day parade on Sunday as Cooperation Minister Sukhjinder Randhawa will unfurl the national flag.

As a full-dress rehearsal for the celebrations was held today, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma arrived 10 minutes behind the stipulated time, owing to which the rehearsal got delayed. It is a norm for the dress rehearsal to start at the time, completely matching with the actual timing for the day.

Afterwards, he unfurled the Tricolour and took salute from the impressing march. The Deputy Commissioner and the Commissioner of Police also inspected cultural items prepared by various educational institutions to mark the celebrations. They also gave necessary directions to the forces and officers regarding preparations for the event.
