Jalandhar: MC wing to issue notice to 3 properties

The property tax wing of the municipal corporation here today checked various properties to ascertain whether they were depositing the right amount of property tax or not. As part of the drive, Nandini Resorts, Modi Resorts and a branch of McDonalds, will be served notices with regard to some documents.
“We checked the properties and there is a possibility that less amount of property tax was being paid. If any discrepancy is found, the properties will be sealed,” an official said.
Until now, the wing has recovered Rs 9 crore. The target for this financial year is Rs 45 crore. There are around 1.65 lakh taxable properties in the city, including residential and commercial ones.
Under the procedure for taking action against defaulters, inspectors of the property tax wing visit different areas to recover the tax. — TNS
