Kanungo arrested for taking Rs 2,000 bribe

Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the state VB said a case had been registered on an online complaint lodged by a resident of Ludhiana on the Chief Minister Anti-Corruption Action line.
He further added that the complainant has alleged that the accused had demanded Rs 6,000 as a bribe in lieu of entering the mutation of land belonging to his family member.
During verification, it was found that the kanungo had demanded Rs 6,000 bribe and taken Rs 2,000 for this purpose.
The spokesperson said during investigation, the allegations levelled in this complaint were proved to be true.
On the basis of this inquiry, a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused.
