Hoshiarpur defeated Nawanshahr by seven wickets in the inter-district Senior Cricket Katoch Shield One-Day Tournament being organised by the Punjab Cricket Association.
In the 50-50 over match, Nawanshahr’s team won the toss and decided to bat first. Facing Hoshiarpur’s Karmveer’s spin attack, Nawanshahr’s team crumbled, scoring only 130 runs in 32.4 overs. Vaibhav Sahdev contributed 48 runs and Abhishek Kumar 42 runs. Bowling brilliantly for Hoshiarpur, Karmveer took 7 wickets for 13 runs, Gaurav Bedi 2 wickets for 21 runs and Rajat 1 wicket for 20 runs.
Hoshiarpur team came to chase the target and defeated the Nawanshahr team by making 133 runs at the loss of 3 wickets in 23.3 overs. Manjinder Singh (not out) scored 45 runs, Gurpreet 31, Tarun Sarin 17 (not out), Karan Chawla 16, Pulkit Sharma 14 runs.
Hoshiarpur District Cricket Association (HDCA) president Daljit Singh Khela, Vivek Sahni, Dr Pankaj Shiv and all HDCA officials and members congratulated the team on this big victory of the team.
Hoshiarpur team’s district coach Daljit Singh, team manager, district trainer and former national player Kuldeep Dhami, Daljit Dhiman, Ashok Sharma and district women coach Davinder Kaur Kalyan also praised the players of the team.
HDCA secretary Dr Raman Ghai said the next match of Hoshiarpur team would be played with Jalandhar on August 1 in Hoshiarpur.
