Despite such huge developments, the youth are still wanting to move abroad and in desperation to do so, they are getting duped.
Two days after two travel agents were booked for illegally sending Ramandeep of Nawanshahr to the US, a Banga travel agent has been booked by the police for allegedly duping two brothers of Rs 15 lakh on the pretext of sending them to the UK.
Sukhjinder Singh from Baghora village in Sadar Nawanshahr block, in his complaint to the police, alleged that his sons Hardeep Singh and Gurdeep Singh wanted to go to the UK for which they came in contact with Shamsher Singh of Banga. “He took Rs 15 lakh and promised to send my sons abroad, but he took the money and never sent them abroad. I want action against the accused,” he said.
An FIR was registered. The accused is at large. Recently, on the complaint of one of the US deportees Ramandeep Singh of Ibrahimpur village in Nawanshahr, the police registered a case against two Rajpura travel agents after recording his statement.
The accused have been identified as Sahil Kumar and Surjit Singh. He had spent Rs 40 lakh to go to the US, for which he heavily relied on loans.
Ramandeep said he wanted to go to Canada for which he approached two agents in Rajpura. “The agents told me that the visa refusal rate was high in Canada. Thus, they sent me to the US. In October last year, I reached the UK and from there, I was taken to Mexico,” he told The Tribune.
He too wanted to settle abroad and earn. After getting deported, my focus is on getting money back,” he stated.
