The team of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College, Mahilpur, won the championship trophy by displaying an excellent game of football in the Punjab University Inter College Championship held at Panjab University, Chandigarh from October 22 to October 29. The football team of the college, which arrived at Khalsa College, Mahilpur, with the winning trophy, was warmly welcomed by the office-bearers of the management committee, principal and staff.

Sikh Educational Council general secretary Prof Apinder Singh, senior vice-president Gurpreet Singh Bains, Virinder Sharma, Principal Harbhajan Singh, Sporting Club president Kulwant Singh Sangha and college principal Dr Parvinder Singh along with former football players of the area visited the college.

Speaking on the occasion, general secretary Prof Apinder Singh, Principal Dr Parvinder Singh, Principal Jagmohan Singh Badon, Kulwant Singh Sangha, Harnandan Singh Khabra and coach Bandhana Singh said that Khalsa College, Mahilpur has its own unique position in football.

Team coach Harinder Sunny and Charanjit Kumar said that a total of 19 teams from colleges under the university participated in the championship. Sports promoter Tarsem Bha, famous football player Radhe Shyam, Harnandan Singh Khabra, Master Baninder Singh, Gurdayal Singh Kaharpur, Madan Lal, Tarlochan Singh Axion, Dr JB Sekhon, Dr Rakesh Kumar, Prof Manpreet Sethi, Ranjit Singh Rana, Gurpreet Singh, Jagtar Singh and Jamsher Singh were among those present on the occasion. The teaching and non-teaching staff of the college also congratulated the winning team.
