Polling for the District Council and Block Samiti elections in Kapurthala district will be held on December 14 from 8 am to 4 pm. In preparation, polling parties were dispatched to their respective polling stations from various locations on Friday, marking the final phase of arrangements for the democratic exercise.

District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal said that, in line with the guidelines of the Punjab State Election Commission, elaborate arrangements have been put in place to ensure peaceful, fair and transparent polling. CCTV cameras have been installed at every polling booth to maintain strict vigil and uphold the integrity of the electoral process.

He informed that voting will be held for 10 zones of the District Council and 88 zones across five Block Samitis. For this purpose, 661 polling booths have been set up across the district, where voters will cast their votes through ballot papers.

The Deputy Commissioner, along with Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Toora, reviewed the dispatch of polling parties at Virsa Vihar. He said that voting will take place for Block Samiti zones in Nadala, Phagwara, Kapurthala, Sultanpur Lodhi and Fattudhinga, in addition to the District Council zones.

Appealing to the electorate, the Deputy Commissioner urged citizens to participate enthusiastically and exercise their democratic right in large numbers.

SSP Gaurav Toora said that comprehensive security arrangements have been made to ensure smooth conduct of the elections. More than 1,800 security personnel have been deployed, with additional force stationed at sensitive and highly sensitive polling booths. He added that patrolling teams have also been constituted for every cluster of 20 villages, and strict action will be taken against any anti-social elements attempting to disrupt the polling process.

Senior officials, including Additional Deputy Commissioners Navneet Kaur Ball and Vikas Varinderpal Singh Bajwa, SP Gurpreet Singh Gill, DSP Dr Sheetal Singh, SDM Irwin Kaur and others, were present on the occasion.
