Hoshiarpur, February 8
The first law-cum-cultural festival of Panjab University Institute of Legal Studies, “Aequitas’20”, commenced at Panjab University Swami Sarvanand Giri Regional Centre, Hoshiarpur, today.
The chief guest BJP national vice-presidnet and former Rajya Sabh MP Avinash Rai Khanna inaugurated the fest by lighting the lamp.
He congratulated the participants for their zealous participation and wished them good luck. Addressing students Khanna said: “In the era of cut-throat competition it is important to prepare the students as per the requirement of present day. Moreover, the events like moot court competition, client counselling competition and judgment writing competition enhance the professional skills of Law students.”
“Besides for the all round development of students, the cultural or extra-cultural activities are helpful for the students to remain calm and cool in the present stressful environment, he added.
Prof Dr HS Bains, director, PUSSGRC, felicitated the guests and appreciated the participation in the events from far away places. He said the host institute was not participating in the main events to maintain the sanctity and honesty of the competition.
Student Welfare in-charge, Dr Brajesh Sharma thanked everyone for their presence.
Faculty convener, Dr Kumari Monika informed all guests and participants about various events and declared the fest open. It is the matter of pride for PUSSGRC, Hoshiarpur, to host judges from different courts of the state to judge various events. Participants from different states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Port Blair and almost all other major states of the country are participating in the contest.
The three-day festival include law events, like moot court competition, client counselling competition and judgment writing competition as well as diplomatic swings, mock Punjab Vidhan Sabha and Quiz Competition. Besides, other major events will be fashion show, nukkad natak, bhangra battle and talent hunt.
