Lineman electrocuted at Bholath

A lineman with Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) was electrocuted while performing maintenance work in Khassan village of Kapurthala district on Wednesday.

The deceased, identified as Dalvir Singh, was stationed at the Bholath Powercom office and was reportedly conducting repairs when he came into contact with a live wire. The electric shock was so severe that his arm sustained major burns from the elbow downward. Singh remained perched on the electric pole following the incident, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Singh, a resident of Issar Buche village, was due to retire next year, according to police sources.

The Bholath police reached the site on receiving information and took the body into custody. It was later sent for post-mortem to the Civil Hospital in the city. Station House Officer (SHO) Harjinder Singh stated that an FIR is being registered on statements from the victim’s family.

Officials from the electricity department have initiated an internal investigation to determine the exact cause of the electrocution.
