Major fire breaks out at marriage palace, loss pegged at Rs 1.25 crore

Fire broke out today at Grand Manor Marriage Palace located at Padrana village, near Saila Khurd, on the Garhshankar-Hoshiarpur road. A large portion of the marriage palace was reduced to ashes in the terrible fire.

It is feared that the loss in the fire was more than Rs 1 crore. People and fire brigade tenders from Nawanshahr and Quantum Paper Mill reached the spot and extinguished the blaze after a tough struggle. Owners of Grand Manor Marriage Palace Vipan Aggarwal and Varun Gupta were not ready to say anything about the fire.

Today afternoon, people suddenly saw smoke billowing from Grand Manor Marriage Palace. Within a few minutes, the fire spread to a large part of the palace. A large part of the palace was burnt in a short time. As soon as the information about the fire was received, Station House Officer (SHO) Baljinder Singh reached the palace with a police party. Firemen, residents of the village and the police toiled hard to bring the fire under control. The front part of the marriage palace was completely destroyed in the fire. Luckily, there was no function at the palace when the fire erupted. No loss of life was reported in the incident.

SHO Baljinder Singh said, “The owners of the Grand Manor Marriage Palace came to the police station to lodge a complaint. They say that their estimated loss is Rs 1.25 crore. We will investigate the whole matter to ascertain what the cause of fire is and how much loss owners have suffered.”
