A man was arrested with 120 intoxicating tablets and over Rs 6,000 drug money by the Adampur police during a patrol against miscreants on Monday.

Kulwant Singh, DSP, Adampur, said a police party near the Sundarpur turn, Alawalpur, spotted a man coming from the other side on a motorbike, who on seeing the police, panicked and tried to turn back his bike.

The man was arrested by the Adampur police on the basis of suspicion. He was identified as Honey of Mohalla Ajit Nagar, ward number 10, Adampur. The police said the accused had hanged a heavy polythene bag, tied to the left side of his motorbike, which, upon being searched, was found to have tablets along with some money. The DSP said 120 tablets along with Rs 6,500 drug money was recovered from the accused's possession. His motorbike has also been seized by the police.

A case was registered under Sections 22, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act at the Adampur police station in Jalandhar.

The police said a further detailed investigation will begin to trace the supply chain trail in the case.

The police also said the accused also face two previous cases against him.
