The Nurmahal police said on April 19, a police party on patrol from Nurmahal to Bhallowal, Dalla, was heading to Kandola Kalan when about 800 metres from Kandola Kalan, a youth was seen walking. On spotting the police party, the youth retrieved a black polythene from the left pocket of his shorts and dropped it on the side of the road in the grass. Identifying himself as Harmesh Lal, alias Billa, upon being apprehended and questioned by the police, the youth said he is resident of Kandola Kalan in Nurmahal.

Upon being searched, the polythene dropped by the youth was found to contain 86 intoxicating tablets.

The youth was arrested and a case was registered against Harmesh Lal under Sections 22, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act at the Nurmahal police station in Jalandhar on April 19.

The police said further investigation in the case is on.
