The Nakodar city police have booked a villager on the charge of outraging the religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion.

Investigating Officer (IO) Dilbag Singh said the accused has been identified as Jasveer Singh, a resident of Jandiala Manjki village under Sadar Jamsher police station.

Balwindar Malrri, a resident of Malrri village, complained to the police that the accused used inappropriate remarks against Bhagwan Valmik in a video made viral on social media.

The IO said that a case under Section 299 (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) had been registered and further investigation was ongoing.
