The Shahkot police have initiated action in connection with the death of a migrant. The deceased has been identified as Amarjit Kumar, a native of Bihar and living at Parjian Kalan village. Arun Kumar, brother of the deceased, told the police that his brother consumed some poisonous substance and died. The police reached the spot and sent the body to the Civil Hospital, Nakodar, and handed over the body to the family after post-mortem.

Two booked for kidnapping

The Nakodar Sadar police have booked a mother-son duo on the charges of kidnapping and selling newborn babies. The accused have been identified as Ranjit Kaur, a resident of Manjit Nagar, Ludhiana, and her son Jagjit Singh. A social activist has informed the police that the accused Jagjit Singh had formed a gang and kidnapped newly born babies and sell these in lakhs of rupees. A case has been registered against the accused.

Bid to encroach land, 2 booked

The Shahkot police have booked a mother-son duo for attempt to encroach land. The accused have been identified as Balwindar Kaur of Bajwa Kalan village and presently living in Ludhiana city and his son Manjindar Singh. Bachan Singh of Bajwa Kalan village complained to the police that the accused and their accomplices tried to encroach his land. A case has been registered against the accused and further investigations are on.
