The deceased was identified as Boota Mohammad, a resident of the area. According to the police, his body was spotted floating in the flooded mand region of Dhilwan. His family members had been searching for him throughout the night after he failed to return home.

Preliminary information suggests that Boota Mohammad may have gone near the river for fishing when he slipped and was swept away by the strong current. While the fishing angle was not officially confirmed, the police indicated that a slip leading to drowning in floodwater appears to be the likely cause behind his death.

Bholath DSP Karnail Singh said an investigation was initiated based on the statement of the victim’s brother Gulzar Mohammad. The body of the deceased was sent to the Civil Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination, he said.
