Phagwara: The police have arrested a liquor trader and seized 12 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession on Sunday night.The accused identified as Harinarain, resident of Onkar Nagar, Phagwara ,who was nabbed at a check point, was booked under the Punjab Excise Act.

Car Stolen from eatery parking

Phagwara: A car (CH-01CE-1569) was reportedly stolen in front of Eastwood Village, a restaurant, along national highway in Phagwara on Sunday night.The car owner Robin Chohan of Jalandhar told the police that he went inside Eastwood village to take dinner after parking his car but found it stolen when came out. The police have registered a case in this regard.

Dharna by Asha workers

Phagwara: Several activists of Asha workers led by Kulwinder Kaur sat on a dharna before the SP office here on Monday. They were protesting against non-fulfilment of their demands, including increasing the retirement age from 58 to 62 years, fixing minimum pension of Rs 10,000 after retirement and giving incentive to newly recruited girls, among other demands. Later, the protesters burnt the effigy of CM Bhagwant Mann and raised slogans against the AAP-led government.
