A man was injured in an armed attack near Tajpur on late last evening.

According to a complaint, Paramjit Singh, a resident of Lakh Ke Pade village in Subhanpur, was travelling on his motorcycle along with Sadiq Muhammad when three masked assailants approached them.

One of the attackers struck Paramjit Singh on the head with a sword, while another used a dagger to attack his legs and shoulders. During the assault, the assailants snatched Rs 1,000 and a mobile phone from the victim before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle.

Alerted by the commotion, locals intervened and managed to capture one of the suspects, identified as Manpreet Singh, alias Gagga of Nangal, Begowal. The other two suspects escaped.

A case under Sections 304,317(2), BNS, has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
