The Kapurthala police on Thursday nabbed a youth with 1 kg heroin and Rs 90,000 drug money.

An Innova car has also been recovered from the youth. SSP, Kapurthala, Gaurav Toora said a man was nabbed during a drive against anti-social elements led by SP, Investigation, Sarabjit Singh, and DSP, Detective, Paramjit Singh.

Acting on the instructions, a police team led by Inspector Jarnail Singh, in-charge of CIA staff, Kapurthala, conducted a patrolling.

During the patrolling, the police apprehended Anmolpreet Singh, a resident of Main Bazar, Jamsher, Jalandhar. The accused, who was driving a white Toyota Innova Car, was intercepted.

Sarabjit Rai said the youth was nabbed at the Dhilwan naka this morning. A driver by profession, the 27-year-old youth was involved in drug peddling. He was coming from Amritsar and heading towards Jalandhar in the car, when he was nabbed.

A case was registered under Sections 21C of the NDPS Act against him at the Dhilwan police station in Kapurthala.

During interrogation, the accused confessed to his involvement in drug smuggling and disclosed that the recovered heroin was meant for supply. The police are conducting further investigations to trace the supply chain and identify other individuals involved in the drug network.
