Jagdeep Kumar, a Goraya-based resident, recently met Rajya Sabha MP Balbir Singh to seek assistance in bringing his brother, Mandeep Kumar, back from the Russian warzone. Mandeep has been missing for over a year, with Jagdeep last speaking to him on March 3, 2024. Since then, Jagdeep and his family have made multiple trips to Delhi in search of help but have been left feeling helpless.

In a video released by Mandeep last year, he was seen crying and pleading for his brother’s help. He named several travel agents who allegedly duped him, leaving him stranded and suffering.

This marks Jagdeep’s second meeting with MP Seechewal, during which he was accompanied by Rakesh Yadav from Azamgarh, UP, who had recently returned from Russia. Yadav shared his difficult experiences and explained to Seechewal and the media how challenging life was in Russia.

Jagdeep has been in touch with other families whose members are also stranded in Russia and has met with them to offer support. He had previously travelled to Delhi to meet an official from the Ministry of External Affairs, seeking updates on his brother’s whereabouts.

Recently, Jagdeep organised a press conference to highlight the ongoing problem of his missing brother. “There has been no contact or information about Mandeep for over nine months. It is becoming increasingly difficult for us,” he said.

Jagdeep said his brother was among eight Indian nationals still missing in Russia. He stated Mandeep was allegedly scammed out of Rs 6 lakh by travel agents promising to send him legally from Armenia to Italy via Russia, Finland and Germany.
