Man, son killed in freak accident

In a tragic incident, a man and his son lost their lives in a freak accident on Mall Road around last midnight amid Diwali festivities.

Victims Sandeep Sharma (53) and Sanan Sharma (17), both residents of Makhdoompura Dhobi Mohalla, were reportedly standing by the roadside after attending a party when they got hit by a speeding car. Four other persons also got injured and three vehicles, including two cars and XUV 700, got damaged in the accident.

Witnesses said around midnight, two youths, one driving an SUV and other Thar, were in a car race which led to the collision. The victims were reportedly coming out of a party venue when they were hit.

The Thar owner reportedly fled the spot.

Police teams are reportedly taking CCTV footages from various locations to identify the accused. SHO Division No. 6 Sahil Chaudhary said, “From the footages, we have identified the registration number of the vehicle. The car belongs to a family in Model House. We are yet to ascertain as to who was driving the car at that time. The house of the accused has been locked since we traced them”.
