The Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar, launched a special enforcement drive today, targeting unauthorised outdoor advertisements at prominent locations.

The campaign, led by Mayor Vaneet Dhir, and Commissioner Gautam Jain, was executed with on-ground supervision by Advertisement Inspector Vicky Sahota. The operation primarily focused on bus stand road, a busy stretch where a large number of illegal flex boards, banners, posters, and hoardings had been put up in violation of the Punjab Municipal Outdoor Advertisement Policy.

Officials stated that these unapproved displays not only marred the city’s aesthetics but also posed safety hazards to both pedestrians and motorists. All such materials were removed during the operation.

"This drive is part of our broader initiative to enforce orderly, lawful advertising practices and maintain a clean, visually appealing urban environment," said a spokesperson for the corporation.

Key objectives of the drive are enforcement of policy-compliant outdoor advertising, reduction of visual clutter in public spaces and promotion of a safe and organised urban environment.

The Municipal Corporation has issued a stern reminder to advertisers and residents to obtain proper permissions before putting up any form of outdoor advertising. The authorities warned that violators would face strict action without prior notice.

Such enforcement actions will continue regularly to ensure that Jalandhar maintains its commitment to being a well-regulated city, the officials said.
