Padma Shri awardee Pargat Singh, MLA and Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, on Thursday visited Kidney Hospital, Jalandhar, to meet renowned kidney specialist Dr Rahul Sood, who was grievously injured after an attempted abduction and shooting incident.

Pargat Singh met the injured doctor, inquired about his health, and also interacted with the medical team attending to him. Speaking to reporters, Pargat Singh said, “If doctors themselves are not safe in Punjab, how can any ordinary citizen feel secure?”

He strongly criticised the AAP government and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible for the attack on Dr Sood and exemplary punishment to ensure that such criminals “never dare to repeat such heinous acts.”

He further added that the recent spate of murders, extortion cases, and broad-daylight attacks reflect the complete breakdown of law and order in Punjab. “When doctors live in fear, how can ordinary families feel safe in their homes, markets, or workplaces?”

Pargat Singh assured that the Congress party would demand a special security plan for hospitals, doctors, and traders, and would raise this issue forcefully both inside and outside the Punjab Assembly. “The safety of life is the first duty of any government. CM Mann must act immediately before Punjab slips deeper into crisis,” he warned.
