SSP, Kapurthala, Gaurav Toora, conducted a surprise inspection of Modern Jail, Kapurthala, early this morning. The operation was carried out with a large team comprising two SPs , four DSPs, eight SHOs, three unit in-charges, 150 police personnel and officials from the prison department.

During the inspection, several prohibited items were discovered inside the jail premises, including one mobile phone, one sharpened iron strip fashioned as a dagger, four knives, three small metal spikes, one iron pipe approximately 2.5-ft long and one wooden stick of similar length.

Legal action is being initiated against those responsible for the possession of these items, said the SSP.

The SSP stated that such surprise checks would continue to be conducted regularly to ensure law and order was maintained within the jail premises. "These inspections are crucial to preserving peace and security inside the prison," he said.OC
