The Qaumi Insaaf Morcha has announced a protest on Saturday at 13 toll plazas across the state for three hours. Morcha members said they would take control of the plazas from 11 am to 2 pm and would make them “free” for all commuters.

The morcha would hold the protest to demand the release of ‘Bandi Singhs’ (Sikh political prisoners).

The 13 locations where the morcha would hold protest include toll plazas at Ladowal near Ludhiana, Bahmanian between Shahkot and Moga, Talwandi Bhai and Ghulal in Faridkot, Dhareri in Mohali, Azizpur in Patiala, Behram in Nawanshahr, Bhagomajra in Kharar, Ferozeshah in Ferozepur and at Kurali.

Gurdev Singh, a protestor from Jalandhar, said morcha members had been sitting on protest in Mohali for the last one year, but the state government had taken no concrete step to fulfil their demand.

“As the state government has failed to fulfil our demand, we decided to intensify the protest,” Gurdev Singh added.
