Mother leaves newborn girl child in hospital

In a private hospital located near Tanda bypass chowk in Hoshiarpur, a mother left her newborn daughter in hospital after giving birth 18 days ago.

In the video going viral in this regard, the woman’s in-laws have alleged that before the birth of the girl child, she was living in her parents’ house and they were not even informed about the child’s birth.

They also alleged that after getting the premature baby admitted to the hospital, their daughter-in-law went back to her parents’ house and did not even check on the baby. She did not feed her either due to which the condition of the girl is critical.

In the video that has gone viral, the father-in-law of the woman said that his son was married to a girl from Jahankhelan in 2024. Some time back, his son went abroad and his pregnant wife went to her parents’ home. He was not even informed about the birth of the girl child a few days back.

The brother-in-law of the said woman, Sonu, told this correspondent that since the child was born in the seventh month, the doctors had asked to keep her in the incubator for treatment.

Therefore, the maternal uncle of the girl got her admitted to the hospital, called them and told them that the child has been admitted to the hospital and they should take care of it themselves.

According to Sonu, since that day they have been continuously bearing all the expenses incurred on the treatment of the child, but her mother did not consider it appropriate to come to see the girl child even once, let alone feed her.

Sonu said that for the past few days, the doctors have been constantly telling him to call the child’s mother so that she can give her feed, otherwise her life may be in danger. Sonu said that despite repeated calls to his sister-in-law and other members of her family, there was no response.

So, in frustration, they lodged a complaint with the police and shared a video on social media telling the whole story.

He said that after the video went viral, they got calls from the girl’s maternal uncle that his sister (girl’s mother) is ready to come to the hospital and feed the girl, and they should withdraw the application given to the police and delete the video.
